With these easy-prep file folder centers, students will work in small groups to read and discuss concepts in an engaging way. Students will find colorful images, kid-friendly text, and hands-on activities with each file folder center!

Simply print out each folder's content, glue inside a file folder and provide the corresponding response activities related to each Age of Exploration topic. Students can rotate through each center and learn along the way!

Teacher Directions for assembling each folder is provided for easy set-up!

In each folder students will work in small groups to:

  • Learn about life as an explorer during the Age of Exploration

  • Identify the major European countries involved in exploring (Spain, France, Netherlands, England)

  • Learn about reasons for exploration

  • Learn about the new land that explorers encountered on their explorations

  • Learn about the relationships between Native Americans and Europeans in the New World

  • Complete extension activities to go along with each folder

Your students will love being able to move around the room, explore new information, and share their learning with each other. They will be practicing communication and collaboration skills as they engage in discussions about their Age of Exploration discoveries.

Save time with your lesson planning, especially if your district doesn’t have a social studies curriculum or if you need to supplement your current program.  These fun folders include all your students need for small group centers. You can laminate them and reuse them year after year!
