Ep 73 // Teacher Summer Road Trip Weekly Theme: Reading Instruction

Inside This Week’s Episode: This week we’re headed to Reading Rodeo where we’ll revisit some of my most popular episodes on reading instruction in the elementary classroom. We’ll talk launching reader’s workshop, my philosophy for teaching reading comprehension strategies, and setting up things like literatures and reading partnerships with your students.

Road Trip Theme: Reading Instruction

Turns out, I talked about reading instruction in the elementary classroom a LOT this past school year.

And for good reason. We want our students to grow as readers all year long.

To do that, we must build a solid framework for how reading looks and feels in the classroom, give students a variety of reading experiences, and build a positive reading community in our classrooms.

In this week’s playlist, I’ve curated clips that highlight tips and strategies to help you do just that. We’ll cover everything including:

  • how to set up your reader’s workshop at the beginning of the school year

  • establishing reading partnerships for building stronger readers

  • simplifying reading comprehension instruction in the elementary classroom

  • how to add variety to your reading block using literature circles
